We build pre-manufactured furniture from its supplied components, fitting doors, drawers, rails and shelves as the design requires. Our furniture assembly service covers bedroom, living-room, kitchen, bathroom and office furniture, as well as suitable garden pieces. We work with products from retailers including IKEA, Argos, Homebase, B&Q, Asda and Mamas & Papas.
The item and its condition matter more than the name on the box. We discuss the product model, number of packs and available space before the visit. A partly assembled piece needs a different assessment from a new, unopened kit, particularly if a joint has been forced or a component is damaged.

Bedroom furniture
We assemble bed frames, wardrobes and chests of drawers, checking connections, drawer movement and door alignment. Tell us about the size of the completed piece and where it will stand. Tall storage may have manufacturer-specified wall restraints; these need a suitable supporting surface and separate checks before fitting.
Desks and office storage
We build desks, shelving and storage for offices and home workspaces. For several identical units, we discuss quantities, the room layout and access so the work can be organised sensibly. Cable trays, drawer units or other accessories should be included in the product information rather than added to the list after booking.
Furniture for outdoors
We assemble suitable garden tables, chairs and related flat-pack furniture. The components need to be available in a dry, accessible working area. We follow the supplier’s assembly method and check the completed connections; any care or weather-protection treatment remains specific to the product and is discussed separately.
Storage with a place to stand
We build freestanding cupboards and storage units, check that their parts are fitted in the correct sequence and review how the finished unit sits. We can discuss positioning within the room, but we need to know about restricted access or heavy items in advance. Wall-unit installation is a different job from freestanding assembly.

We start by checking that the delivered packs correspond to the requested item and that the instructions and hardware are available. We keep fixings organised, work through the product’s sequence and support the parts while connections are made. A large frame may need enough space to be built flat and then raised safely; that is one reason room measurements matter before we arrive.
During assembly, we use tools suited to the fasteners and material. Correctly fitted connections should not depend on forcing a panel into place or overtightening a screw. If the instructions identify a particular component or fixing, we check it rather than substitute something unsuitable simply to finish the job.
The parts you use every day
We fit drawer runners, handles and hinges in the positions specified by the manufacturer, then check that moving parts run and close properly. Where the design allows adjustment, we align the doors and drawers once the frame is assembled. A unit that looks complete still needs those practical checks.
We also look for uneven gaps, loose connections or a part that does not sit as the instructions show. Any missing, damaged or incorrect component is discussed with you. Basic spare fasteners may be available, but they are not a promise that every missing proprietary fitting can be replaced during the appointment.
Fitting the furniture to the room
We discuss where the completed piece will stand before the build starts. Skirting, sockets, radiators, door swings and uneven floors can all affect placement. We can assess adjustments that the product is designed to allow; changing the furniture’s design or carrying out bespoke carpentry is separate work.
For manufacturer-specified wall restraints, we check the mounting location and the wall before agreeing the installation. Freestanding assembly does not establish that every wall will accept every fixing. If the item needs additional support, a different fastener or another person to handle it, we explain that before proceeding.
BEFORE THE DELIVERY BECOMES A BOOKING
Give the build
the space it needs.
Arrange the appointment after your furniture has been delivered. We need the relevant packs, hardware and instructions at the property, and space to lay out the components. If a delivery is incomplete, tell us before the visit. Waiting for a missing pack can prevent the planned assembly from going ahead.
We bring assembly tools for the agreed work. Keep manufacturer-supplied accessories with the item and let us know if something has already been opened, assembled or taken apart. We assess partly built furniture before continuing: damaged threads, split panels or a missing diagram may change what can reasonably be completed.

A VISIT PLANNED AROUND YOUR PROPERTY
Homes, rentals
and working spaces.
In a home or flat, we plan around access to the room and the furniture already in it. Please explain narrow passages, restricted stairs or any lift arrangements when booking. If the completed furniture is too large to move between rooms, we need to assemble it in its intended location rather than assume it can be moved afterwards.
For rented properties, agree any drilling or fixing with the landlord or managing agent before the appointment. Let us know who can approve the final position and answer questions during the visit. Landlords arranging work between tenancies can provide a room-by-room list with product references and a nominated access contact.
In offices, we discuss the number of pieces, the layout and any restrictions on working hours or use of occupied areas. Several desks may share the same construction but still require different positioning or accessories. We check the list at booking so the visit is planned around the actual products rather than a broad description such as “office furniture”.

Assembly can often be planned alongside suitable small jobs. A new bedroom might need a wardrobe built, a curtain pole fitted and a mirror hung. A home office might combine a desk with extra wall storage. Tell us about all the work before the appointment so we can discuss access, the right trade and the time to allow.
A shared visit is not a guarantee that one person can complete every item. Heavy furniture, complex products or work needing a specialist may call for another technician or a separate appointment. We can discuss priorities if the list is long. Changes to the agreed work need discussion rather than an assumption that additional tasks are included.

THE ACTUAL BOOKING CONDITIONS
What affects
the assembly price?
Furniture assembly uses the published handyman labour rates. Standard Monday–Friday appointments, 8am–6pm, have a first-hour charge of £83 and a one-hour minimum. Subsequent half hours are £36. The published half-day rate for up to four hours is £256, and the full-day rate for up to eight hours is £456. These are labour charges, not per-item assembly prices.
The size and complexity of your products, the quantity and access arrangements affect the booking. We discuss the items before confirming it. Assembly time depends on the components, fitting systems and handling involved; we discuss those details before confirming the appointment. Weekend and out-of-hours rates differ.
Labour rates include taxes. Materials, replacement parts, any agreed sourcing time and additional expenses are separate. The published handyman material-sourcing rate is £49 per hour, with the materials charged on top. Parking is added only if incurred, and congestion charges may apply when attendance by scooter is not possible. Jobs taking more than a day need an on-site viewing.

A few practical answers.
Can you continue a wardrobe I have started building?
We can assess a partly assembled item. Send photographs, the product details and a description of what has already been done. If panels, joints or fixings are damaged, we explain what can be completed and whether replacement parts are needed before continuing.
What if a manufacturer’s fitting is missing?
Let us know as soon as you notice. We bring assembly tools and may have basic spare fasteners, but a proprietary cam, bracket or hinge may need to come from the supplier. We will not promise that any missing fitting can be replaced on the spot.
Will you secure a tall unit to the wall?
Tell us if the manufacturer specifies a restraint. We assess the wall, fixing position and product requirements before agreeing that work. Any required permissions, additional fixings or access issues need to be discussed; we do not assume every wall is suitable.
Do I need to move the packs upstairs?
Tell us where the delivered packs will be and describe the access route before booking. We can then discuss handling arrangements, particularly for heavy or awkward components. Do not assume that a large item can be carried or raised by one person.
Can you assemble several different brands together?
Yes, we assess the actual products rather than requiring one retailer. Send the full list, instructions where available and the intended room for each item. Different fitting systems, quantities and sizes can affect the work required.
Can I arrange assembly for an office or rental property?
We work in both. Provide an access contact and make clear who can approve positioning or changes. For offices, include restrictions on occupied work areas. For rentals, check any landlord permission needed for wall restraints or additional fittings.
