A WINDOW FINISHED WITH CARE
Curtain fitting
in London
We fit curtain poles and tracks and hang curtains for homes and workplaces across London and the M25. We review the window, the fabric and the supporting surface, then agree the position before fitting. Send photographs and product details so the visit can be planned around your room.
Tell us what is being fitted and where it will go.

FIT. CHECK. FINISH.
A clear position before the first fixing.

The curtain starts with its support.
We fit single poles, double poles, curtain tracks and bay-window poles, together with suitable curtains and valances. The supporting system needs to work with the heading and the fabric, not simply occupy a position above the window. We discuss those elements together before the installation is arranged.
Our listed curtain headings include pleat, eyelet, rod-pocket and slot-top or tab-top designs. A heading that slides over a pole differs from one using hooks or a track, so please include the product details rather than only the curtain dimensions. Brackets, rings, gliders and other supplied components should be kept with the fitting.
If you are replacing an old system, tell us what is already in place. Existing holes, damaged plaster or a different bracket layout can change the work. We assess the support for the new installation instead of assuming that an old fixing arrangement is suitable. Clear photographs of the full window and the current fittings help us discuss that before the visit.

Agree the line before the first fixing.
We check the proposed position with the window and the curtains in view. Height, width and the fabric drop affect how the arrangement looks and operates. A pole intended to extend beyond the opening needs space at both ends, while the curtain also needs to move clear of the window and nearby fittings.
We can discuss the visual effect you want, including a higher fitting position or a wider arrangement. Those preferences must be considered alongside the available surface, bracket requirements and the supplied curtain dimensions. We measure and mark the agreed location rather than copy the previous position without checking it against the new product.
Someone should be available to confirm the position, or a clear decision contact should be arranged before the appointment. Room photographs and measurements are useful in advance, but a fitting height should not be guessed from a close-up of a packet. If several windows share a wall or room, we review their relationship as a group before work begins.
Choose the fitting request
| Arrangement | Work we discuss | Details to send |
|---|---|---|
| Single or double pole | Bracket positions, pole width and fabric movement. | Pole information and curtain heading. |
| Curtain track | Supports, gliders and the intended line. | The complete track system and instructions. |
| Bay-window pole | The full bay shape and supporting sections. | Whole-window photographs and product dimensions. |

Following the shape of a bay.
We fit curtain poles for bay windows and assess the complete shape before agreeing the installation. The relationship between the sections, the window openings and the curtain movement matters. A view of a single pane will not show every angle or the available fixing surfaces, so send photographs of the whole bay.
The product needs to be intended for the arrangement being fitted. Please supply the pole or track details, including the components that make up the bay system. Different systems join, support and move in different ways. We check those requirements with the physical window rather than assume that every straight-pole component can be used around a corner.
Access can also be different in a bay. Furniture, a window seat or a radiator beneath the opening may restrict positioning while we work. Explain those conditions when enquiring and tell us about any previous fixing problems. We can then discuss the practical arrangements and the proposed position before confirming the appointment.
Light fabric and heavy drapes need thought.
We work with a range of curtain materials and styles, from lighter fabrics to heavier drapes. The weight and the heading affect the load on the supporting system and the way the curtain moves. We ask for the product information so brackets, poles or tracks can be considered with the fabric being hung.
Layered curtains may use a double-pole arrangement, while a track may be chosen for a different appearance or movement. We discuss what is being supplied and how you expect the window treatment to work. Fitting a purchased curtain system is not the same request as making or altering the fabric, so keep the work list specific when you enquire.
Once the support is fitted, we hang the curtains using the appropriate supplied arrangement and review their movement and position. We check that the curtains can be opened and closed as their system allows and that the chosen placement works with surrounding furniture. If a component is missing or incompatible, we explain what is needed rather than force an unsuitable combination.

Before the curtains go up
| Decision | What we check | Useful preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Height and width | The proposed position against the curtain dimensions. | Arrange a person who can confirm the location. |
| Access | The route to high or awkward fixing points. | Tell us about furniture and building restrictions. |
| Components | The relationship between headings and hardware. | Keep rings, hooks, brackets and instructions together. |

A prepared working area around the window.
We arrive with tools for the agreed installation, review the products and confirm the intended location. We check the supporting surface before fixing, protect the immediate working area as appropriate and plan access to the bracket or track positions. The fabric and nearby furnishings also need room while the work is carried out.
The condition of the wall affects the fixing method. An old curtain position can conceal loose material or a damaged hole, while a new position may have different clearances. We discuss the preparation required for the proposed support rather than cover a weak fixing point with a larger bracket and assume the work is complete.
High ceilings or awkward access should be mentioned before booking. A bed, desk or fragile furniture directly under the window may prevent suitable positioning for the work. In flats and managed buildings, explain any restrictions on drilling or access. These details help us plan the visit without assuming that every window can be reached in the same way.

What to have ready for the fitter.
We need the curtains, poles or tracks and all supplied fittings at the property. If the items are arriving from different suppliers, check that the relevant deliveries are present before the appointment. Product references and instructions are useful, especially when several similar-looking components belong to different windows.
In a rented home, obtain any required permission for drilling or changing the support arrangement. Landlords and letting agents can provide a room-by-room list and nominate someone who can approve positions. In an office, tell us about occupied work areas and access times so installation can be discussed around the people using the room.
Materials and replacement components are separate from labour. We bring fitting tools for the agreed tasks, but the booking needs to make clear who supplies the curtains and hardware. If sourcing is requested, agree it in advance. Please include the following details in the enquiry rather than rely on an assumed standard curtain installation.
- Curtain heading, fabric details and the supplied pole or track
- Window photographs, dimensions and the intended curtain drop
- The number of windows and any bay-window arrangement
- Current fittings, high access or restrictions on drilling
Check the result, then the rest of the room.
We review the fitted support, the curtain position and the operation of the system before finishing. On a set of windows, the installation needs to make sense as an arrangement as well as at each individual bracket. We discuss the completed work with you and raise any issue connected to the supplied products or the existing surface.
If the room also needs blind fitting, include it in the initial enquiry. Curtains and blinds can share a window but have different positions, controls and fixing requirements. We consider their clearances together instead of assuming that fitting one will leave an appropriate position for the other.
Room-finishing tasks such as mirror fitting or picture hanging can be discussed for the same visit. We review the whole list, including item weights and wall conditions, before arranging it. Extra handling, materials or a different trade may change the booking, and additional tasks need agreement rather than being treated as included automatically.

Rates for the work being arranged.
The number of windows, the support system, access and preparation affect the appointment. Bay-window sections, heavier curtains or changes to existing fixings need different consideration from a straightforward replacement in a clear location. We discuss the actual products and the work required instead of attaching one completion time to every room.
Standard handyman labour, Monday–Friday from 8am–6pm, is published at £83 for the first hour with a one-hour minimum, followed by £36 for each subsequent half hour. A half day of up to four hours is £256 and a full day of up to eight hours is £456. Other time bands have different charges; check the published price list and conditions before arranging the visit.
The labour prices include taxes. Curtains, fittings, materials and additional expenses are separate. If material sourcing is agreed, the handyman charge is £49 per hour plus the items purchased. Parking is added if incurred, and congestion costs may apply when we cannot attend by scooter. The published policy asks for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange an appointment.
What changes the work?
| Factor | What it means | How we plan |
|---|---|---|
| Several windows | Products may differ in width, height or system. | Use a window-by-window list. |
| Replacement fittings | Old holes or brackets may not suit the new support. | Review the existing condition and new fixing points. |
| Layered treatments | Curtains and blinds need separate clearances. | Discuss both systems before either is installed. |

BEFORE YOU ARRANGE THE VISIT
A few practical answers.
Can you hang curtains on a pole I already own?
Yes, we assess the existing or supplied pole with the curtain heading and fabric. Tell us whether it is already fitted and send the product details. The support, fittings and wall need to be suitable for the proposed installation.
Do you fit tracks as well as poles?
We fit curtain tracks as well as single, double and bay-window poles. Keep the complete system and its instructions together. We review the support positions and supplied components before installation, because the fitting arrangements vary between systems.
Can you install a pole in a bay window?
Yes. We need photographs of the complete bay and details of the intended system. The sections, angles and curtain movement must be considered together, along with access beneath the window and the available surfaces for support.
Can you alter the length of my curtains?
The fitting enquiry should distinguish hanging a supplied curtain from making or altering its fabric. Explain what you need before booking. We can assess the installation request, but do not assume sewing or fabric alteration is included with pole or track fitting.
Can you fit heavy curtains?
We discuss the fabric weight with the supporting pole or track and the wall condition. Send the product details and photographs of the window. Heavier fabric can affect support and handling, so it should be included in the booking information.
What if I cannot attend the appointment?
Agree clear instructions and a contact who can confirm positions or approve changes. The height and width influence the result and need a decision before fixing. In rented or managed properties, also confirm the necessary permission for drilling.
