A PLACE FOR THE PIECES YOU VALUE

Picture hanging and mounting
in London

We hang pictures, canvases, prints and wall displays in homes and offices across London and the M25. We agree the arrangement, measure the positions and select supports suited to the piece and the wall. From one frame to a grouped display, we treat the layout and the fixing work as parts of the same job.

Tell us what is being fitted and where it will go.

From one frame to a complete arrangement

We hang framed paintings, photographs, prints, canvases, maps and framed murals. We also assess wall relief panels and other display pieces, along with office items such as whiteboards, noticeboards and projector screens. Tell us what is being mounted rather than describe every object as a picture: its construction, weight and existing hanging fittings affect the work.

A single frame may need a considered position over a particular piece of furniture; a collection needs spacing and an overall relationship. We discuss what you want to see on the wall and how the room is used. We do not assume a large blank area needs to be filled. Photographs of the items and their proposed location help us understand the display before the visit is arranged.

Agree the arrangement first

We establish the intended layout before making fixing points. For grouped pictures, we discuss the order, spacing and relationship between different sizes or frame shapes. An arrangement can be deliberately varied while still having a clear line or balance. We measure the wall and consider the furniture below it, nearby openings and other features that influence the position.

If you already have a sketch or reference photograph, send it with the enquiry. We can review how it translates to the actual items and available wall space. For an office or managed property, identify who can approve the final arrangement. That decision is useful before mounting begins; changing the order of a completed gallery can mean new fixing positions rather than a simple adjustment to the same hooks.

A frame is more than its front

We look at the existing hanging fittings, the frame or panel construction and the weight being supported. A wire, a pair of attachment points and a specialist mounting rail do not all give the same installation. We check how the piece is intended to be carried by its supports, including whether its own fittings need attention before it reaches the wall.

Our technicians bring hanging tools and basic materials such as hooks, brackets and screws. Some objects require particular hardware or additional support, so send close photographs of their reverse where possible. Tell us about damaged frames or uncertain fittings before the visit. We can then discuss what is suitable, rather than treat every piece as if it were a lightweight print with an ordinary picture wire.

Supports suited to the wall

We assess the relevant wall and select an appropriate fixing method for the item and surface. The visible finish does not always identify what is behind it. Known wall construction, previous holes and any concealed-service information are useful, but they do not replace a review of the actual mounting area before the work is agreed.

Position also affects access. A high location, a narrow stairwell or furniture directly below the display may change how the piece can be handled. Let us know about those conditions when booking, particularly for heavy or awkward items. We can discuss a second technician or other arrangements where needed. The chosen position must be considered alongside practical support and handling, not judged only from the appearance of the finished wall.

Space to handle the piece properly

We agree an immediate working area and protect relevant surfaces as appropriate. Pictures and display panels need a safe place to stand while measurements and fittings are checked. We avoid unnecessary handling, but access to the reverse may be needed to establish the mounting system. Tell us about fragile finishes, glazing or other features that require particular care.

For a large framed piece or a heavy mirror, size can matter as much as weight. We need to know how it will be brought to the mounting position and whether it can be supported while the fixing is engaged. Do not assume one technician can handle every item. Where a mirror forms a separate part of your request, our mirror fitting service provides a useful starting point for discussing it.

Displays that work for the people using them

We mount noticeboards, whiteboards, projector screens and suitable presentation equipment in offices and other working premises. The intended position should suit the people using the room as well as the wall available. We discuss access, nearby furniture and any restrictions on drilling or working in occupied areas before arranging the appointment.

Send the product model, dimensions and mounting instructions for office equipment. A board that is used regularly has different practical requirements from a decorative frame. If several pieces form a planned display, include the full list and an agreed layout. We can then consider the installation together rather than discover additional equipment after the visit has begun. Any electrical work or separate system installation needs its own discussion and the appropriate specialist.

Level, secure and in the agreed position

Once the layout and support method are agreed, we measure and mark the fixing points, fit the supports and position the piece. We use appropriate measuring and levelling tools to check the arrangement, including the relationship between grouped items. Existing frame fittings and the way a piece settles on its supports are considered as part of that review.

Before finishing, we check the position, alignment and relevant connections. We go through the completed display with you or the nominated contact and discuss any issue that affected the original plan. The review includes the group as a whole when several items have been installed. A picture that is level on its own may still need to be considered against the spacing and line agreed for the surrounding collection.

A useful enquiry starts with the items

Tell us the number and type of pieces, their approximate dimensions and any known weights. Photographs of the front, reverse and proposed wall help us assess what information is still needed. If a piece uses a manufacturer-specific fitting, include the instructions or product reference so we can discuss the mounting arrangement.

For tenants and managed properties, agree the permissions needed for drilling before the appointment. Make clear who will confirm the positions if you cannot be present. We can discuss access instructions, but an installer still needs a decision-maker when an item or wall differs from the information supplied. A clear list and an agreed contact reduce the need to interrupt the work while separate instructions are sought.

  • Count all frames and display items in the request.
  • Send the reverse fittings as well as a front photograph.
  • Provide the proposed layout or reference where available.
  • Explain high positions, stairs and handling restrictions.

Bring the wall work together

Picture hanging can often be planned with other suitable mounting tasks. You may want a mirror in the hallway, shelves in the study and frames in the living room. Our shelf and unit mounting service explains the storage work we assess. Send the full list before booking so the surfaces, fittings and handling can be considered together.

If the wall is being decorated, discuss that sequence before installing the display. Fresh finishes and any required preparation need to be considered around the mounting work. Combining jobs is a way to plan the visit, not a promise that every item can be handled by one person or fitted within a fixed duration. We review additional work before it is added to an existing booking.

Clear charges for the work involved

The number of pieces, the layout and the support requirements affect the amount of work. Our standard weekday handyman labour rate, Monday–Friday between 8am and 6pm, is £83 for the first hour, with a one-hour minimum. Further half hours are £36. Published half-day and full-day rates are £256 and £456 for up to four and eight hours; those are labour bookings rather than fixed-price picture packages.

Materials or specialist fittings and agreed sourcing are additional. Parking is charged only when incurred, and congestion expenses can apply when attendance by scooter is not possible. Weekend and out-of-hours bands differ, so check the full published rates and conditions. We discuss your item list before confirming the visit. Jobs taking more than a day need a viewing, and the cancellation or rearrangement policy asks for at least 48 hours’ notice.

BEFORE YOU ARRANGE THE VISIT

A few practical answers.

Can you hang a mixture of frame sizes?

Yes, we can discuss a grouped arrangement with different sizes and shapes. Send the full collection and the wall dimensions, plus a reference layout if you have one. We agree spacing and position before mounting.

Do you bring picture hooks and screws?

Our technicians bring hanging tools and basic materials. Particular objects may need specific fittings or additional support, so photographs of the reverse are useful. Any specialist parts or sourcing are discussed separately.

Can you hang pictures above stairs?

We assess the location and access before confirming the work. Send photographs showing the stairway and proposed position, together with the item dimensions and weight. High or awkward locations may need different arrangements.

Do you install office whiteboards and noticeboards?

Yes, these are included in the display work we assess. Provide the product model and mounting instructions, the intended position and any access restrictions. Separate electrical or system work must be identified in the enquiry.

Can I decide the exact arrangement on the day?

We discuss final positioning at the property, but send the collection and any layout ideas before booking. A major change in quantity, location or handling requirements can affect the appointment and needs agreement.

Can you reuse the hooks already on the wall?

We assess the existing supports and their positions against the new item. Their presence does not establish that they suit a different frame or load. Let us know which pieces are being replaced and send photographs of the fittings.
