Home Mirror fitting and replacement

A CLEAR POSITION. A CONSIDERED FIXING.

Mirror fitting and replacement
in London

We fit mirrors for homes and workplaces across London and the M25, from small framed pieces to larger wall and bathroom designs. We review the mirror, its weight and the supporting surface, then confirm the position with you before installation. Send the product details and photographs when enquiring.

Tell us what is being fitted and where it will go.

FIT. CHECK. FINISH.

The mirror and the support need assessment.

We install framed and frameless mirrors, wall mirrors, bathroom pivot or tilting designs, leaning floor mirrors and larger floor-to-ceiling pieces. The size and appearance do not describe every installation requirement. We need information about the weight, the supplied mounting system and the intended position to discuss the work accurately.

An existing wall finish can conceal a different supporting surface beneath it. We assess the proposed fixing arrangement with the actual construction in mind rather than assume every wall accepts the same fastener. The mirror’s own brackets, plates or other specified supports also matter, particularly where the fitting method is part of the product design.

For a replacement, explain what is already in place and whether the old mirror needs removal. Existing fixings may not match the new item. We discuss the handling and the condition of the location before agreeing the work, instead of treating every replacement as a new mirror hung on an old hook.

Confirm what you want to see.

We agree the intended position before making the final fixings. Height, nearby furniture, the use of the room and the view reflected in the mirror all influence that decision. A bathroom mirror used every day has different positioning considerations from a decorative piece above a console or a large wall mirror in an office.

Please arrange for someone to confirm the location, or agree clear instructions and an available decision contact before the appointment. Our service recommends being present so the placement can be checked with you. A photograph of the wall is useful beforehand, but it should not leave the fitter guessing a personal preference during installation.

We measure and mark the agreed position and review the relationship to adjacent features. For a grouped arrangement, alignment with other pieces should be discussed at the same time. We also need to know about switches, sockets, tiling or other features near the proposed location, as those details can affect access and the practical fitting arrangement.

Plan the handling before the visit.

Large and heavy mirrors require particular attention to handling as well as fixing. Our listed service recommends two handymen for oversized or heavier pieces. Send the dimensions and weight information when enquiring so the team can discuss the appropriate arrangement instead of assume one person can safely manoeuvre every item.

The route from delivery to the final wall matters. Stairs, tight turns, narrow hallways and furniture can restrict how a mirror is moved and supported. Explain where it will be waiting and where it is to be fitted. We discuss those conditions before confirming the appointment, particularly for floor-to-ceiling or awkwardly shaped pieces.

The mirror needs to be available with its supplied fittings and any installation information. Keep protective packaging until handling arrangements have been discussed, and tell us about any damage or missing components. We assess the actual product and access; the fact that a mirror has arrived at the property does not establish that it can be carried or fitted by any available person.

Bathroom, pivot and illuminated mirrors.

We fit suitable bathroom mirrors, including pivot or tilting designs. The mounting arrangement must allow the movement the product is designed to provide while keeping the mirror in the agreed position. We review the fittings and clearances with the surrounding basin, furniture and wall finish before installation.

Illuminated mirrors are also listed within our service, but electrical connection requirements need separate discussion. Send the product details and explain the existing arrangement before booking. An item being described as a mirror does not make its electrical work an ordinary mounting task. Our electrical fixes and installations service covers that separate specialist work and its published rates.

Our listed fitting work also includes glass shelves. Include their dimensions, support system and intended use in the enquiry rather than assume they use the same method as an adjacent mirror. Where a bathroom has several fittings, we discuss their relationship and sequence so one installation does not leave another without suitable space or access.

Protect the area and check the fixing method.

We arrive with tools and fasteners for the agreed fitting work, review the mirror and confirm the intended location. We protect the immediate working area as appropriate and plan how the item will be supported while it is positioned. A clear area around the wall helps us carry out the work without unnecessary handling around fragile furniture.

We inspect the relevant surface and use a mounting approach suited to the mirror and its specified supports. The product instructions are important where a particular bracket, plate or fitting system is supplied. We discuss any preparation needed at the location rather than conceal an unsuitable support behind the mirror and treat the job as finished.

If the existing condition changes what can be fitted, we explain the issue before additional work is agreed. That can include a damaged fixing point or a missing proprietary component. We do not promise that every unknown support or product part can be replaced during the same appointment. The booking should remain clear about the work completed and anything that needs a further decision.

Packaged mirror and brackets beside an unobstructed wall

The useful information is more than a photograph.

We work in homes, rented properties, offices and other suitable premises. In a flat, a lift or stair route can influence the handling of a large piece. In a workplace, access to the wall and occupied areas need discussion. Tell us about the property before booking, not only the appearance of the mirror.

Tenants should confirm permission for drilling or changing an existing installation. Landlords and property managers can nominate the person authorised to approve the position and any further preparation. If the customer is not attending, we need a reliable contact and clear instructions rather than an assumed fitting height chosen on someone else’s behalf.

Materials, replacement parts and any agreed sourcing are separate from labour. We bring fitting tools for the planned task, but need to know what is supplied with the mirror and whether removal of an existing item is included. The following details help us assess the installation and the handling arrangements before an appointment is confirmed.

  • Mirror dimensions, weight and product information
  • Photographs of the intended wall and nearby furnishings
  • The supplied brackets, plates or other mounting components
  • Stairs, lifts, tight access and the delivery location
  • Any old mirror to remove and the person who can confirm placement

Check the fitted mirror and related work.

We review the installed mirror in the agreed position and check the fittings relevant to its design. For a pivoting piece, that includes the intended movement and clearance. For a large fixed mirror, we review its alignment and support. We go through the completed work with you rather than leave the position unconfirmed after the fitting is finished.

If you are also arranging picture hanging, send details of the other items at the same time. Their placement and weight may differ from the mirror, and a gallery arrangement needs its own measurements. We discuss the whole wall so the installation can be planned as a coherent set of tasks.

Window treatments, shelving or other small room jobs can also be considered for a combined visit. We review the list, materials and handling before agreeing it. Several items are not an automatic fixed-price package, and a heavy mirror may need a different staffing arrangement from the rest of the list. Electrical work for an illuminated product remains a separate trade consideration.

Rates and the handling arrangements.

The size, weight, supplied supports, wall and access all affect the fitting appointment. We discuss the actual mirror rather than promise one duration for every item. Two-person handling or additional preparation needs to be included in the booking conversation, not discovered only after an oversized piece is waiting at the wall.

Published standard weekday handyman labour, Monday–Friday from 8am–6pm, is £83 for the first hour with a one-hour minimum, followed by £36 for each subsequent half hour. Half-day and full-day rates are £256 for up to four hours and £456 for up to eight hours. Other time bands and electrical work have different charges; see the full rates and conditions and confirm the relevant arrangements.

Labour includes taxes. Materials, replacement parts and additional expenses are separate. If handyman material sourcing is agreed, it is published at £49 per hour plus the purchases. Parking is added if incurred, and congestion charges may apply where scooter attendance is not possible. The published cancellation or rearrangement policy requests at least 48 hours’ notice. Removal and any handling requirements should be made clear before the appointment.

BEFORE YOU ARRANGE THE VISIT

A few practical answers.

Can you install a very heavy mirror?

We assess the dimensions, weight, wall and access before confirming the booking. Our listed service recommends two handymen for larger or heavier pieces. Send the product information and explain the route through the property so the handling can be planned.

Should I be present to confirm the position?

We recommend being there to agree placement. If that is not possible, arrange clear instructions and an available decision contact before the appointment. The position should not be guessed from a photograph without someone authorised to confirm it.

Can you replace an existing mirror with a different size?

We can discuss the replacement, including removal of the existing item. Send photographs and both the old and new dimensions. Existing supports may not match the new product, so the wall and fitting method need assessment.

Do you fit illuminated bathroom mirrors?

Yes, suitable illuminated mirrors are listed within our service. Provide the product information and describe the existing arrangement. Any electrical connection work needs the appropriate specialist and separate published trade rate rather than being assumed to be ordinary mirror mounting.

Can you fit glass shelves at the same appointment?

Glass shelf fitting is part of our listed work. Include the shelves, brackets, dimensions and intended use in the enquiry so their supporting method can be assessed. They should not be assumed to use the same arrangement as an adjacent mirror.

Will you bring the mirror fixing components?

We bring tools and fasteners for agreed work, but product-specific brackets or plates may need to be supplied with the mirror. Tell us what is included and share the instructions. We discuss missing or unsuitable components before confirming what can be fitted.
